Every scene in Crisis Core that has to do with Kunsel

What the title says. This is just a compilation of every scene, every message, every bit of dialogue in the game that has anything to do with Kunsel. This is mostly for my own reference, since I haven't been able to find a script of the English dub of the game anywhere on the Internet that contains all of this.

Chapter One

(Just after Zack’s training session against the simulated “Wutai” troops on the train.)

Kunsel: Hey Zack, you seem a little on edge.
Zack: Can you blame me? All this training and no assignments. Like they’re hanging me out to dry. You must be pretty busy with everyone off base.
Kunsel: Off-base? Wait, haven’t you heard? There’s been a mass desertion at SOLDIER. It appears one of the 1sts deserted. He took a bunch of 2nds and 3rds with him, too. Nobody knows why he left, or what he’s up to. This mass desertion’s the reason why your training’s on hold.
Kunsel: Heads up, a 1st!
(Angeal appears and talks to Zack. Kunsel disappears.)
-
(After Angeal and Lazard brief Zack on his mission to Wutai. Angeal suggests talking to other SOLDIER operatives to catch up on details.)
Kunsel: I’ll tell you everything you need to know. The first thing you have to learn about is combat. You probably got a handle on it in training, but I sent you a mail explaining basic combat. You should give it a read.
Kunsel: So? Did you read the mail?
-->How do you read mail again? (Just generates repeat how-to text.)
-->I read it all!
Kunsel: Well, knowing you, you probably won’t remember everything after one read.
Zack: That’s not true…
Kunsel: Well, read it when you need to refresh your memory. It’ll come in handy, I promise. By the way, the materia you were using in training have been confiscated. Powerful materia have to be earned on your own. Those are the SOLDIER rules.
Kunsel: The next thing you have to know about are the special tasks classified as “missions.” Put simply, these are the errands that the company assigns to SOLDIER operatives. To participate in missions, you have to register your personal information on the mission board. After you register, you can check missions on your handset. Come on, I’ll show you how to register on the mission board.
(Follow him to the mission board.)
Kunsel: This is the mission board. Here, try registering yourself now.
(Register on the mission board.)
Kunsel: Now that you’re registered, you should try doing a mission.
Zack: Sounds like a good idea. I’ll do that right now.
Kunsel: The Save Point is that way. If you’re unsure about combat during missions, you should read the tutorial mail I sent you.
(Go complete your first mission at the Save Point.)
Kunsel: Looks like you cleared a mission. Nice work.
Zack: It was so easy, I could have done it blindfolded!
Kunsel: Ha ha ha! You’re the man, Zack. I’ll be waiting to hear about your exploits on this Wutai assignment.
Kunsel: Oh, I almost forgot. I never explained these supply pods to you, did I? In these supply pods are items you can use in battle. The company sends them to us periodically.
Zack: I see. They’re like provisions for SOLDIER members.
Kunsel: It’d be a shame to squander the company’s good will. Check it out before you go on assignment. I wonder what they gave us this time?
(Collect a Bronze Bangle from the supply pod.)
Kunsel: All right, looks like you’re ready to go. Lastly, I’ll tell you about mail.
(There’s a beep of incoming mail.)
Kunsel: Just now, I sent a mail to your handset. We can exchange information this way. You can also get messages from Director Lazard and company news via mail. Check it regularly. And who knows – maybe you’ll get mail from friends you make along the way.
(Zack pumps his fist, excited, but Kunsel cuts in.)
Kunsel: But don’t just read mail that you get from girls!
Kunsel: Well, I guess that’s everything. Looks like it’s time for you to head out. You’re going with Angeal, right? Good luck on the assignment!
Zack: Yeah! Thanks for all the information!
(Examine the supply pod again.)
Kunsel: Now Zack, don’t get greedy. There’s a limit to how much free stuff you get. The company isn’t stupid, you know.

Mail from Kunsel: Congrats on your first mail!
“Kunsel here.
Now that you’ve got your mail account ready, allow me, your loyal and well-connected pal, to give you lots of insider info. Why? Because I’m such a nice guy … and I know you and your one-track mind don’t know what I know!”

Chapter Two

(After Zack gets assigned to go to Genesis’s hometown with Tseng.)

(The PHS rings while he’s talking to Tseng and Lazard.)
Zack: Oh, excuse me. Hello?
Kunsel: Yeah, this is Kunsel. Did you read my mail?
Zack: Not yet. I’ll read it later. I’m kinda in a meeting right now –
Kunsel: Ah, gotcha. Hey, can I talk to you after that, though?
Zack: Well… If you keep it short, I guess. Haven’t got much time.
Kunsel: Yeah yeah, it’ll be short. I’ll be right outside the briefing room.
Mail from Kunsel: What I think about Angeal
“It seems every SOLDIER 1st Class has a quirk or three, but I think Angeal has a lot of common sense and is a trustworthy fellow. Let’s face it: Genesis never found group activities appealing, so Angeal is, in fact, the spiritual leader of SOLDIER. I’ve got a lot of respect for him, too. And I envy you for getting to work with him so often.”
(Outside the briefing room…)
Kunsel: Hey, Zack. What do you say we go down to Sector 8? You can go to Sector 8 through the first floor entrance as well. Let’s head over. You should always go do as much as you can before an assignment, so you have no regrets.
(They head down to Sector 8.)
Kunsel: Well, here we are in Sector 8. I guess we should split up here.
Zack: What? You bring me out here, and now you’re leaving me?
Kunsel: You do have an assignment waiting, don’t you? Wouldn’t it be quicker to go around just by yourself? The ShinRa Building is straight ahead that way when you’re reading to go back.
Kunsel: So, I’ll see ya, Zack. I’ll send you another mail when I find the time.
(Kunsel leaves.)

(When Zack returns to the SOLDIER floor in the ShinRa Building…)
Kunsel: Hey, Zack. Finally made it back, did you?
Kunsel: Weren’t you in the middle of an assignment? You should get going. The Turks guy is waiting for you in the briefing room.
Zack: Oh yeah, the assignment!
-->I’ll head over right now!
Kunsel: Good luck on the assignment. I’ll send you a mail again when I have the time.
-->Where’s the briefing room again?
Kunsel: Are you kidding me…? (The camera zooms out to include a door just across from them.) The briefing room… (Camera turns so you can see that the door is clearly labeled “Briefing Room.”) Is right there, you can see it from here. Are you feeling all right?
Kunsel: Just hurry up and go, Zack. Good luck on the assignment. I’ll send you a mail again when I have the time.
(He walks off.)

Chapter Three

(After Tseng and Zack arrive at the outskirts of Banora, but just before they reach the town.)

Mail from Kunsel: Mmmm… Apples
“You got an assignment in Banora, right? How is the place? I hear there are a lot of ShinRa people there. Apparently, the village’s main source of income is the production and processing of apples. The rest of their budget is made up of subsidies from ShinRa. Now, why would ShinRa care about such a tiny village? Could it have something to do with mako? Or… There’s gotta be something fishy going on there. I’m gonna look into it.”

Chapter Four

Zack: Angeal, the war is over. Everyone’s real happy. As for me…
(Flashback: Mrs. Hewley: That sword represents our family’s honor.
Angeal: You’re a little more important than my sword.
Angeal: …But just a little.)

Zack: Where did you go…?
(PHS rings.)
Zack: Zack here.
Sephiroth: It’s been a while, Zack.
Zack: Sephiroth?
Sephiroth: Come to Lazard’s room.
Zack: Alright.
(His PHS beeps on the way.)
Mail from Kunsel: Angel in white?
“Have you seen a guy wearing a white coat and glasses, with dark hair in a ponytail? That’s Hojo, head of the Science Department. He rose to the top when he established the method of using Jenova cells to create SOLDIER operatives. It was more than 20 years ago that scientists vying for the top spot apparently had a mudslinging feud. Hojo is in the training room now. I wonder what he could be studying… Maybe I’ll sneak into the training room later.”
(As you approach the elevator to head to Lazard’s room, Kunsel walks out of the other elevator.)
Kunsel: Hey, Zack.
Kunsel: So, the war’s over…
Zack: Yeah. Did you hear about all I did?
Kunsel: The company reports don’t mention you at all. And the TV news only talks about “Sephiroth’s remarkable bravery.”
Zack: But Sephiroth was with B unit…
Kunsel: Heroes are chosen by the media, that’s just how it is.
Zack: Thanks for crushing my dreams…
(Talk to him again.)
Kunsel: Oh, come on! Cheer up, will ya?
(After Zack talks to Lazard and gets promoted to first, then changes into his new uniform. He’s heading back up to Lazard’s room when he receives the message from ShinRa news reporting that Angeal and Genesis were both killed in action.)
Mail from Kunsel: Went to see LOVELESS
“Genesis, K.I.A.?
Yeah, right. Who do they think they’re trying to fool?
Just got back from seeing the stage production of LOVELESS in Midgar. Genesis was a big fan, wasn’t he? I usually don’t care for classic drama, but it was pretty damned good. The guy is the hero in the original, but the play was more from the viewpoint of the girl who helps the guy. When I heard the last line: “Of course… I’ll come back to you. Even if you don’t promise to wait. I’ll return knowing that you’ll be here.” Aw, man, that’s when I lost it and just started bawling.”

Chapter Five

(After Zack falls through the crack in the Plate and meets Aerith. He’s on his way through the slums, heading towards the hole in the wall.)

Mail from Kunsel: Hollander’s T-shirt
“It seems Hollander’s favorite T-shirt is the one with a logo of Banora’s famous canned apples. Can a guy love apples that much? Or do you suppose he has other ties to Banora? Apparently, with all the confidential information they handle, guys in the Science Department aren’t allowed to leave the company even if they screw up or lose out in the rat race, and that puts them under a lot of stress. Maybe Hollander’s T-shirt helps him relieve some of that, huh?”

Chapter Six

(Sometime after Genesis attacked the ShinRa building… Sephiroth’s holed himself up in the data room, researching the history of the ShinRa Science Department. Aerith just called Zack to remind him of his promise to build her a wagon.)

Zack: Come on, pick up!
Luxiere: Who are you trying to call?
Zack: Sephiroth. I haven’t been able to reach him in ages.
Luxiere: Haven’t you heard? Mr. Sephiroth has shut himself inside the data room and hasn’t come out. Handsets are prohibited in the data room, so there’s not much you can do.
Zack: Data room?
Luxiere: He is apparently researching the history of the ShinRa Science Department.
Zack: Oh…
(His PHS rings.)
Zack: Aerith, what’s up?
Aerith: Um, I wanted to ask… When will you make it for me?
Zack: Make what… oh!
Aerith: The flower wagon, did you forget?
Zack: No, of course I didn’t forget! Hold on, I’ll be right there.
(He hangs up.)
(Note: This part isn’t specifically about Kunsel, but could be used as reasonable evidence that he might have had interaction with the Turks. Specifics would have to be worked out with castmates.)
(Zack approaches a SOLDIER Second and a SOLDIER Third in the hallway of the SOLDIER floor.)

SOLDIER 3rd Class: He and I were just talking about who we think is the prettiest woman in Midgar. Me? Well, um… Personally, I think the girl at the Information Center… No-no-no-no-no-no! Don’t tell her I said that! Please don’t!
SOLDIER 2nd Class: I think the hottest in Midgar is Director Scarlet in the Arms Development. I wouldn’t mind being stepped on by her high heels, if you know what I mean! Zack, who do you think is the hottest all around?
-->Aerith, of course.
-SOLDIER 2nd Class: Ahh, I see… Wait, who is that? Is she your girlfriend? Are you bragging about how hot your girlfriend is!? Dude! Get out!
-->Cissnei, without a doubt.
-SOLDIER 2nd Class: Ahh, yes, droolworthy indeed. That uniform does look good on her. I bet it’d be fun to go somewhere like Costa del SOL with her.
-->Are you blind? Me!
-SOLDIER 2nd Class: Ahh, of course. You’re an idiot.
(The SOLDIER 2nd clearly knew who Cissnei was and what she looks like just by mention of her name. It's not proof, but it establishes precedent that she's interacted with other SOLDIERs besides Zack.)
(Presumably, he’s spent a few minutes on the SOLDIER floor, giving Kunsel time to have talked to Luxiere or something, but as Zack is approaching the elevator on the SOLDIER floor…)

Mail from Kunsel: Sephiroth’s whereabouts
“You were complaining about not being able to get in touch with Sephiroth, but he’s in the data room. It looks like he’s going through all the research papers on a series of experiments called “Project G,” as well as other experiments conducted around the same time. But Project G took place over 20 years ago, and Hollander has taken some of that data with him. I even hear that the really important data isn’t even here, but hidden away in some other place. I don’t know if anyone is ever going to understand the full scope of those experiments.”

(Zack’s still in the process of making his way to Aerith (doing a few side quests and missions along the way) when he runs into the scientist in the Exhibition Room (who is only available after you’ve completed missions 2-1-1 through 2-1-5.))
Zack: What’s a scientist doing, loafing around in a place like this?
Researcher: You Science Department puppets are not allowed to speak to me.
Zack: What? Puppets? Did you say “puppets”!? You’d better not be talking about SOLDIER, pal!
Research: No amount of SOLDIER talk is going to impress me. You’ve nothing to contribute besides your muscles.
Zack: Hey! We’re out there fighting all over the world to defend Midgar! Fighting to protect you! I’d say my contributions to the world outweigh those of a geek sitting at his desk reading all day!
Researcher: Let me ask one question.
Zack: Shoot.
Researcher: Why are you here?
Zack: Huh?
(His PHS rings and he answers it.)
Kunsel: Zack, you got a minute?
Zack: What’s up?
Kunsel: Have you heard? About the recent monster outbreaks in Midgar and Kalm?
Zack: Sure. Everyone’s talking about them.
Kunsel: Apparently, those monsters were once under the care of the Science Department as study samples.
Zack: Really? You mean the monsters broke out of ShinRa’s cages?
Kunsel: Come on. Do you really think they could make it through this building’s security by themselves?
Zack: Then that can only mean…
Kunsel: The company has decided to cover this up by sending SOLDIER operatives to eliminate the monsters. You could be called in, too. But keep all this to yourself for now.
Zack: Right. Got it.
(He hangs up.)
Zack: ShinRa’s monsters… What’s happening to this place?

(After Zack goes on the mission this unlocks, 2-1-6, he returns to the Exhibition room and talks to the scientist.)

Researcher: Why do you boys in SOLDIER continue to risk your lives in battle? If I were in your shoes, I would find it unbearable to have to fight for ShinRa.
Zack: I have to admit, there are times when I get sick of always being at the company’s beck and call, but…
Researcher: Have you ever heard of the term… “Cetra”?
Zack: Cetra? No, can’t say that I have.
Researcher: “The Cetra will return to the Promised Land. A land that promises supreme happiness.” It is said that the Promised Land is fertile with an overabundance of mako energy. So if the Promised Land becomes ours, we would have all the energy we needed, without mako reactors. The Cetra are thought to know the location of this wonderful Promised Land.
Zack: Sounds like a fairy tale to me.
Researcher: Oh, really? The Science Department has invested vast amounts of money to study this “fairy tale.” Even if it means making the most inhuman sacrifices.
Zack: I’m not getting you, Doc. What are you talking about?
Researcher: My point is this… ShinRa is an entity that deserves to perish.
(Kunsel approaches.)
Kunsel: I’ve been looking for you, Professor. I’m taking you into custody.
(Two SOLDIER Thirds join Kunsel.)
Zack: Whoa-whoa. What’s going on?
Kunsel: We now know that he has been releasing test monsters from Professor Hojo’s laboratory… With the intention of them attacking Midgar.
Zack: Why would you do a thing like that!?
Researcher: The research conducted by the Science Department has always been tantamount to sacrilege. The time has come to atone for our sins. Nothing less, nothing more.
Zack: You’re not making any sense! You want to destroy Midgar to atone for your sins!?
Researcher: We had even sacrificed Ifalna, the last surviving Cetra. To atone for that, we could destroy Midgar twice and it still would not be enough.
(The researcher walks off with the two SOLDIER Thirds.)
Kunsel: He was the No. 2 guy in the Science Department after Professor Hojo. He was always a well-respected member of the department. What could have happened to him…?

Chapter 6

(Zack’s on the mission to Modeoheim, and he’s just confronted Genesis and saved Hollander. Cloud and Tseng have headed on in pursuit of Hollander, who escaped during the fight. Zack’s on his way to catch up to them.)

Mail from Kunsel: Snowy village
“So now you’re in Modeoheim, eh? Isn’t that near Icicle Inn, the permafrost area? It must be freezing cold out there! That area was once a candidate for mako excavation, when it was abuzz with construction workers and scientists around the ShinRa facility. But after the plans for a mako reactor were canned, the village was deserted. That is, until reports of disturbing activity started popping up recently. The seclusion and harshness of the environment must make it a convenient location for anti-ShinRa groups.”

Chapter Seven

(Zack’s on vacation at Costa del Sol, with the Turks hovering close by keeping an eye on him, when they receive word of an attack on Junon. In Junon, Hollander has just escaped from his cell while Genesis copies are wreaking havoc on the city. Zack’s on his way to try to find him.)

Mail from Kunsel: Simultaneous attacks
“Zack, where are you? SOLDIER operatives are being sent out because we’re getting attacked from all over the place.I’m on a chopper myself, on my way to an assignment. You were on vacation, weren’t you? Did it get cut short?
These recent attacks may spell real trouble for us. What’s worse, the chain of command is in shambles since Director Lazard suddenly disappeared. Nobody seems to know where anyone is!”

(Zack continues his pursuit of Hollander, fighting Genesis copies and ShinRa machines that have somehow been hijacked/reprogrammed. He nearly catches him, but then loses him when a tank rolls through a gate. After Zack dispatches the tank, Tseng shows up some other SOLDIERs and declares that their location can be closed off against further attacks, making it a good place to evacuate civilians. Presumably, Zack sticks around for part of this, since as soon as you’re done talking to Tseng, civilians appear around the area. While still in this area…)

Mail from Kunsel: How was your vacation?
“Haven’t arrived at my post yet. Could the director’s absence be having this much of an impact on the operation’s lack of finesse? By the way, how was the beach? You looked awfully stressed out before you went. Did the waves and the sun help ya at all?”

Chapter 8

(At the end of chapter 7, Sephiroth told Zack that Genesis copies were showing up all over the world – including the slums in Midgar. He gave Zack permission to return. In the slums, Zack finds Aerith with an Angeal copy, but instead of attacking them, the copy protects them from a machine that enters into the church and attacks them. Afterward, when Zack starts to speculate on what it means that there’s an Angeal copy, Aerith pulls him out of his worries by suggesting they get to work on the wagon he promised to build for her. Zack heads off to look for tools and materials when his PHS rings.)

Mail from Kunsel: I see everything
“Hmmm, I wonder where you might be. Wait, let me guess… You’re hanging out with that Aerith girl again, aren’t you? I bet you’re wondering how I got that information. See, I know everything about you, even if you never tell me anything. In other words, it’s no use keeping secrets from me, because I know how to get information. So talk to me, Zack. You can tell me anything. Tell me about all the things that are wearing you down.”

(Still on his hunt for materials for the wagon, Zack’s collected lumber and tools so far. Now he’s trying to wheels, and he’s just about to enter Sector 8 from the Sector 1 Station Platform.)

Mail from Kunsel: Falling apart
"Those copies Hollander made that attacked ShinRa… Did you know that Director Lazard financed Hollander with money he embezzled from the company? Seems revenge against the company was the motivation for both of them. I can understand Hollander wanting revenge, but why would Lazard? He climbed up the ladder while he was still young. And he was always a decent guy. What could he have had against the company? I do remember him writing about “ill blood” in one of his mails. Speaking of climbing up, the president’s son’s already made vice president. You think Lazard was after the VP’s chair…?"

(After Zack finishes making his first flower wagon for Aerith, he gets called back to HQ by Sephiroth.)
Sephiroth: Legions of monsters have spawned near a regional mako reactor. The workers have all gone missing. Local SOLDIER operatives have also vanished. The company is dispatching additional operatives to investigate the matter. You and I, that is.
Zack: Roger that…
Sephiroth: What’s wrong?
Zack: Well, you know… I thought you found something out about… that other matter.
Sephiroth: The missing operatives were the ones tracking Lazard. Also, they had reported a strange podlike device in the area.
Zack: Is that… Hollander’s…?
Sephiroth: Probably the same device that was stolen in Modeoheim.
Zack: Meaning…
Sephiroth: Lazard, Hollander…
Zack: …and Genesis?
Sephiroth: We’ll have to go see them.
Zack: Mm… Let’s go.
Sephiroth: First, go to the SOLDIER floor. We’ll depart as soon as you and the rest of the men are ready to go.
Zack: Understood.
(Zack starts to head out, but Sephiroth calls after him.)
Sephiroth: Our orders are to investigate the reactor. They mention nothing of… old friends.
(Zack turns back to look at him.)
Sephiroth: Depending on what happens, I may abandon ShinRa. Until then, I’ll remain loyal to SOLDIER.
(The scene cuts to Zack waiting in the hall on the SOLDIER floor.)
Zack: Nobody seems to be coming…
(The elevator dings, and someone steps off.)
Kunsel: Oh, hey, Zack. I heard you’re going on a new assignment with Sephiroth. (He approaches Zack.) I’ve also received new orders to inspect the mako reactor at Fort Condor. Looks like we won’t see each other for a while.
Zack: Yeah, I guess this is goodbye…
Kunsel: Hey, why the long face? Are you that sad to see me go?
Zack: I’m sad because…
-->I have to be away from Aerith.
Kunsel: Ah, right… You’re in love.
Kunsel: So, are you just gonna wait here until it’s time to go?
-->…I love you, man!
Kunsel: Aww, I didn’t know you ca—
Kunsel: …Hey! Quit joking around! It’s that girl in the slums that you’re thinking about!
Kunsel: You still have some time, right? You should go see her before you leave. Don’t worry about it! I’ll explain everything to Sephiroth.
(If Zack enters the Briefing Room, he can talk to another SOLDIER Second there.)
SOLDIER 2nd Class: I’ve been assigned to go to the mako reactor in Fort Condor with Kunsel.
SOLDIER 2nd Class: Zack… I’ve got this weird feeling that I might never see you again…
SOLDIER 2nd Class: Naah! I’m just kidding!
(Zack goes down to the slums now to spend some last time with Aerith, trying to sell flowers with her. After he talks to Tseng (who was watching) he returns to ShinRa HQ and runs into Kunsel on the SOLDIER floor.)
Kunsel: Oh, you’re back. You’re in luck. Sephiroth isn’t here yet. So, what are you gonna do? Are you just gonna wait here?
-->Wait, I need a little more time!
(Kunsel doesn’t say anything. This just allows you to remain in Midgar a little bit longer.)
-->I have no regrets!
Zack: Thanks for everything. Let’s finish our respective assignments quickly, and meet up again in Midgar.
Kunsel: Will do. Until we meet again!

Chapter Nine

(Zack has gone to Nibelheim with Sephiroth and Cloud to investigate the reactor. When they got to the reactor, Genesis showed up with some harsh words for Sephiroth, and to ask for his help. When Sephiroth rejected him, one of Genesis’s clones attacked. Cloud was hurt, and he, Zack, and Tifa went back to the Inn. Zack’s heading back up to ShinRa Manor to talk to Sephiroth, and has already spoken to Aerith briefly, when his PHS rings with a text.)

Mail from Kunsel: A message for you
“Working hard at your assignment, I assume. I guess it was longer than we thought it would be. I thought I’d look after Aerith while you were gone, but the Turks were already there guarding her. I don’t know why.
Anyway, she says the tire came off her flower wagon, and now the thing’s useless. I offered to fix it for her, but she refused. She’s waiting for you to come back and fix it, so hurry up and get back here already.”

IN PROGRESS

Nope, not quite finished! Until then, here's some placeholder copies of the last messages Kunsel sends.

Subject: A message for you
---------------------------

From: Kunsel

Contents: Working hard at your assignment, I assume.
I guess it was longer than we thought it would be.
I thought I'd look after Aerith while you were gone,
but the Turks were already there guarding her.
I don't know why.
Anyway, she says the tire came off her flower
wagon, and now the thing's useless.
I offered to fix it for her, but she refused.
She's waiting for you to come back and fix it,
so hurry up and get back here already.

Received: On the way to ShinRa mansion after Zack wakes up in Nibelheim Inn.

-------------------------------
Subject: Tell me they're lying
-------------------------------

From: Kunsel

Contents: Got an announcement from General Affairs
that you were killed in action.
But those announcements are never true, are they?
Where are you? What are you doing?
What did you have to do for the company
to reclassify yourself as a dead man?
Let me help you if you're in a jam.
Talk to me, I'll be waiting.

Received: After Zack and Cloud return to the ShinRa mansion to rest before
leaving Nibelheim.

---------------------------
Subject: You can't fool me
---------------------------

From: Kunsel

Contents: Zack, where could you possibly be?
Let me know if you're reading this.
You've gone missing since your mission with Sephiroth.
Do you have anything to do with Sephiroth being
killed in action?
I heard rumors about something going down in Nibelheim.
Are you there right now?

Received: After Zack and Cloud leave the ShinRa mansion the second time, before
leaving Nibelheim for good.

---------------------------
Subject: Just as I thought
---------------------------

From: Kunsel

Contents: I hear two research samples have escaped from Nibelheim.
And might you be one of them, Zack?
If you are, watch your back, because now a whole
battalion of infantrymen has been called in.
They're coming after you in crazy numbers.
Man, what in the hell did you do to deserve this?
I don't care if you've made an enemy out of ShinRa.
I'll always be waiting for you to come back.
Just make it back alive, buddy. Promise me.

Received: Shortly after arriving at Gongaga.

---------------------------------------
Subject: A SOLDIER legend, so they say
---------------------------------------

From: Kunsel

Contents: Someone apparently took care of this thing that's
been on the back burner forever. All the bigwigs
and everyone in SOLDIER are freaking out that
it's the return of the SOLDIER legend.
The source of the problem was apparently more powerful
than a summon. Its materia reaction was so beyond measure,
the gauge started to smoke. In fact, the materia power
was so intense that other monsters, and even robots,
became overloaded with mako and started going berserk.
Anyway, I was thinking...This SOLDIER legend...
Could everybody be talking about...YOU?

Received: After defeating Minerva
